What is it about American Idol that makes people lose their minds?
Since the beginning, I have never been able to get into the show. Sure I’ve watched the first couple episodes of some seasons for a good laugh, but as soon as that is over I just can’t get into it. I still wonder why some people subject themselves to the show when it is pretty obvious that they have no chance. Is five minutes of fame (or should I say shame) really worth it?
The above being said, over the last few days I have been seeing “Pants on the Ground” as status updates on Twitter and Facebook. Call me curious, but I just had to figure out what it meant. It took me less than a minute to search Google and find the video on YouTube.
The song was written and performed by General Larry Platt who is best known for his work in the civil rights movement of the 1960’s. I have to admit that it is great to see a man from this movement telling today’s youth (and the not so young) to get their pants off the ground. I know I am sick and tired of it myself.
If you haven’t seen the video I can only suggest you watch it, but beware that you will definitely be laughing so be aware of your surroundings.
